I was on HGTV's House Hunters. How? Why? Because my dear friend, Socorro, met a friend of a Producer who mentioned that Pietown Productions was currently looking for Las Vegas agents and homes for one of Pietown's shows, National Open House. Socorro got her name and phone number and called me the next day. She asked if I'd like to be on National Open House. Me? I told her "heck no!" She told me it would be fun and that I was outgoing and perfect for the show (why me?). She kept bugging me to call Ally at Pietown Productions. Sure, I admit I'm outgoing, friendly, LOVE to talk (just ask my husband), but be on tv? No way!!! So, I stalled and stalled and stalled until Socorro called me and asked if I'd spoken with Ally at Pietown Productions yet. I told her no, that I hadn't called. I had no intention of ever calling because I was scared. Socorro made me dial the phone. Ally was very nice, asked about my listings and said none of them fit what they were looking for, but that House Hunters could probably use me. Thanks, but no thanks! Next thing you know, I'm standing with quivering legs and nothing to say in front of a field producer, cameraman and sound guy with my buyers at House #1.
Well, now that it's over I must say, I had a great time! The field producer, Kathleen, is hilariously funny and has a way of making you relax and go with the flow. I bet I look so robotic on the show (I'm just not an actress), but behind the scenes was a blast! The show was filmed April 4 - 7, 2008. They will go back out to my buyers home in 3 to 4 months after they've settled in. Then, after more producing, cutting, etc, it will go on the air around February 2009. Maybe by then I won't think I look fat or care if I had a hair sticking straight up. What I will remember is how much fun it was and how nice those HGTV people were.
So, thank you Socorro (I don't want to kill you anymore), Donna Kelly at House Hunters in California (your job is much more difficult than I first imagined), Kathleen (my new producer/director/therapist girlfriend), Bruce the cameraman (handsome as heck with his $65,000 high def camera), and Scott the sound guy (who really can hear everything), oh, and most importantly, Chad and Diane (my very cool buyers). Without you, where would I be? I had fun, thank you.
